Research Interests

Due to my diverse academic and professional background, ranging from accounting to information studies, I am interested in conducting multidisciplinary studies where I can apply my quantitative and qualitative skills in studies related to value creation for different beneficiaries. These perspectives in my studies range from the public (e.g., public health or public finance) to individuals (e.g., individual health or personal finance).

My current research focuses on information seeking behaviour and minorities, with the objective of understanding what motivates individuals from diverse backgrounds to seek health-related information, what barriers exist in the process of information seeking, what factors influence information seeking activities, and how individuals interpret and use obtained health-related information. My research is currently focused on information-seeking behaviour and minorities. As a result, the topics of information science, information seeking behaviour, information literacy, health communication, e-health, and minority populations are now my primary focuses in terms of study.

Research Projects

I've written about the health, behaviours, and information-seeking of non-native minorities in Nordic countries. To address the health-related information seeking behaviour of these minorities, I used models adopted from the expanded Longo model—the information seeking and communication model (ISCM) and the health belief model (HBM). I enjoy utilising different methodological approaches and tools in the field of information science. Recently, I have completed and published (some are under review in ISI journals) several articles using a content analysis approach through systematic reviews, semi-structured interviews, and surveys. The aim is to provide new methodological insights and have a holistic view to better understand what types of healthcare services and health information non-native minorities need, seek, and use in a new country.
